What is the goal of the Cerritos College Capital Campaign?
Cerritos College, with the help of auto industry partners, has launched a campaign to raise $4.8 million from the private sector to make a $15 million renovation and expansion of the current auto technology complex possible. The new Southland/Cerritos Center for Transportation Technology will include new bays, classrooms, and labs, along with construction of a new 10,000 square foot Automotive Partners building.
Why is the project necessary?
One of the greatest challenges facing the Cerritos College automotive technology program -- or any technical program -- is staying in the forefront of the ever-changing and advancing automotive industry. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that there are currently 60,000 high-skilled technical jobs unfilled in the automotive industry. The Southland/Cerritos Center for Transportation Technologies will prepare students to fill some of the estimated one million new high-tech automotive technician and management jobs that will be needed by 2010.
What is the campaign timeline?
The campaign is expected to run through 2009.
What are the various giving options?
The campaign encourages outright cash gifts or pledges payable over five years. Gifts of appreciated securities also are welcomed and may provide tax advantages to the donor. We will also accept matching gifts and planned gifts such as life insurance and bequests. If you have other giving options in mind, please contact the Foundation office.
Are there named gift opportunities?
There is a full range of opportunities to pay tribute or recognize an individual, corporation or foundation. The Named Gift program offers lasting public recognition for campaign supporters. To discuss donor recognition possibilities, please contact the Foundation office at the number listed below. Is my gift tax-deductible?
The Cerritos College Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable corporation. Gifts are tax deductible to the full extent as determined by the IRS. The mission of the Cerritos College Foundation is to support the various educational programs of Cerritos College. |
